Buzz: Rangers and O's Interested in Omir Santos

According to a number of sources from yesterday the Rangers and Orioles are interested in Omir Santos.

Question is who are you giving us for him or will the Mets trade him.

News: Mets re-sign RHP Kyle Snyder

The Mets have re-signed RHP Kyle Snyder to a minor-league contract.

The 32-year-old Snyder was 3-8 with 4.23 ERA with a save with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons last season. Good news he was named the team's 2009 Comeback Player of the Year!

Astros 8 Mets 4

The Astros defeated the Mets today 8-4.

Pitching:
Johan Santana's first start of the Spring was not very good as he went 1 2/3 innings where he gave up six hits, four runs, and walked one.

Don't worry it's only the beginning of spring training so Santana had a bad day big deal it's only Spring Training and everyone gets hit hard once in a while.

The Mets got good relief from Clint Everts, Travis Blackley, Sean Green, and Elmer Dessens as they each pitche a scoreless inning.

Hitting:
David Wright hit a two-run homer and Ike Davis hit a solo homer. Davis is batting .429.

Josh Thole had an RBI. Gary Matthews Jr. 3-for-4 with two runs scored.

K-Rod is Back! Kelvim Escobar Shut Down

According to Brain Costa of The Star-Ledger Francisco Rodriguez returned to the Mets this morning. K-Rod had pink-eye before and that was the reason he couldn't come back to the Mets now K-Rod is back with the Mets.

That is great news I wonder how many saves K-Rod will get.

Bad news is that according to sources Kelvim Escobar has been shut down by the Mets due to his shoulder.

That is horrible news because i think Escobar if gotten the job would've been a great set-up man.

Mets 11, Marlins 2

The Mets have defeated the Marlins today 11-2.

Hitting:
The Mets had three home-runs Chris Carter hit two of those home-runs one was a three-run homer the other was a solo shot. Rod Barajas hit the other home-run.

Ike Davis had another good day at the plate going 2-for-3 with two RBI's. As Ike's hitting is getting great his defense isn't so good as he's already made four errors.

Jason Bay had an RBI single. Fernando Martinez had a sacrifice fly.

Pitching:
John Maine started the game and got the win as he pitched 1 2/3 innings and he struk out four batters with two hits allowed.

R.A. Dickey, Jenrry Mejia, and Ryota Igarashi got holds. Dickey went 2 1/3 scoreless innings and gave up two hits, struk out one and walked one. Mejia went three scoreless innings he struk out one and gave up two hits. Igarashi pitched an inning and he gave up a run, two hits, and struk out one.

Pedro Feliciano pitched an inning and had two strikeouts.

Mets 6, Nationals 5

The Mets beat the Nationals today 6-5.

Pitching:
Oliver Perez started them and wasn't so good allowing three runs in the first inning then one more in the second and then one more in the third. Perez also gave up seven hits and striked out two.

However the Mets' relief pitchers in the game Hisanori Takashi and Pat Misch. Takashi went three innings and only gave up a hit and he had six strikeouts. Misch also pitched three innings Misch gave up just three hits and also had three strikeouts.

Hitting:
Omir Santos had the main highlight of the offense he hit a odd and bizzare inside the park grand slam in the same inning Alex Cora had an RBI single. David Wright put the Mets in the lead for good in the fifth inning with an RBI double.

Mets 14, Nationals 6

Today the Mets defeated the Nationals by a large score of 14-6.


Hitting:

The Mets showed power today as they have been showing a lot in Spring Training scoring 14 runs and they hit 3 homers.

Fernando Martinez had another great day going 4-for-4 with two solo homers and three runs scored.

The Mets were off to a good start as they scored two runs in the first inning thanks to a Sac Fly from Mike Hessman and Ike Davis who got an RBI single. When the Mets fell behind 4-2 they quickly scored another two runs to tie it thanks to a solo homer by Fernando Martinez and an RBI single by Henry Blanco. The Mets scored a run in the fourth due to a wild pickoff throw which allowed Angel Pagan to score.

The Mets fell behind again this time in the 6th when the Nationals got a 6-5 lead. The Mets responded quickly again putting up a mosterous five-spot in the 7th. Fernando Martinez started the five-spot with a solo homer to tie it 6-6 then Mike Jacobs gave the Mets the lead for good with a solo homer. Kirk Nieuwenhuis got an a RBI single in the same inning and also Ruben Tejada hit a two-run RBI double giving the Mets a 10-6 lead.

The Mets had another big inning in the ninth putting up a four-spot. Starting with an Ike Davis RBI double. Then a Kirk Nieuwenhuis RBI single. Lastly there was a two-run single for Anderson Hernandez. The Mets were 6-for-13 with runners in scoring position.
The Mets are really hitting great lately.

Pitching:

Mike Pelfrey started the game and had a tough day giving the Nationals a 4-2 lead due to one run in the first inning and three runs in the second. Pelfrey went three innings four runs given up, three earned with seven hits and sevven hits but NO walks. Yeah it was tough day for Pelfrey but it's only the beginning of Spring Training.

Eddie Kunz pitched one inning where he allowed nothing.

Eric Niesen pitched a 1 2/3 where in the bottom of the sixth he gave the Nationals a 6-5 lead where he gave up two runs.

Sean Green got the win in 1 1/3 innings of work where he gave up a hit and had three strikeouts.

Good News Reyes' Condition Completely Curable

According to sources Jose Reyes' thyroid condition is curable and he'll be fine.

Yes I am soooooo glad Reyes will be fine.

Mets Lose to Marlins and Mets Defeat Cardinals

Today the Mets were defeated by the Marlins by the score 4-3 in 10 innings.

Pitching:

Jon Niese who started the game pitched 2 2/3 innings with just a run allowed with 5 strikeouts and three hits.

Jenrry Mejia pitched a soilid 2.1 innings were he had four strikeouts and no hits allowed.

Ryota Igarashi pitched next in which he pitch 2 innings striking out one but he allowed one hit and that hit was a solo homer hit by Emilio Bonifacio that tied the game 2-2.

Pedro Feliciano pitched a scoreless inning.

In the ninth Bobby Parnell came in and got himself in and out of a bases loaded jam. However Parnell pitched the tenth and allowed a two-run homer to Mike Stanton to make it 4-2.

Hitting:

David Wright hit into a fielder's choice which allowed Angel Pagan to score in the third inning making the score 1-1 then in the same inning Jason Bay got an RBI double his first hit of spring training which made it 2-1 Mets.

The Mets had a rally in the tenth where Mike Hessman got a fielder's choice with an error that scored Sean Ratliff.

The Mets were 0-for-5 with Runners in Scoring Position.

Now for the game against the Cardinals in Jupiter which the Mets won 7-3.

Hitting:

The Mets had an explosive first inning scoring three runs thanks to an RBI double by Fernando Tatis plus RBI singles from Jeff Francoeur and Fernando Martinez. The Mets took the lead 4-3 in the seventh thanks to a Shawn Riggans RBI single. In addition the Mets scored another three runs in the ninth.

Pitching:

Fernando Nieve pitched 3 innings allowed a run with three hits and a strikeout. Bobby Livingston pitched 2 innings in which in one of the innings he allowed the Cardinals to tie the game despite that he had five hits allowed with one strikeout. However in the end it was Nelson Figueroa who got the win pitching 4 innings only giving up a hit.

Reyes will be Tested for Tyroid Imbalance

According to Mets.com Jose Reyes took a blood test on Thursday that suggested that Reyes has a hyperactive thyroid. The had announced on Friday morning that Reyes would be tested that the results might not be avialable untill Wednesday. Untill the results are shown Reyes will not be able to have any baseball activity.

Lets hope this is nothing serious we already have Carlos Beltran injured.

"This is not what I want to be doing," Reyes said. "I am disappointed."

"I have to be concerned about it and find out what's going on. This is important. We're not talking about my leg. We're talking about my health, so I have to be concerned about it. It can be dangerous for me." Reyes said.

News: Mets sign Kiko Calero.

The Mets signed RHP Kiko Calero to a minor league deal.

Mets 17 Cardinals 11

The Mets beat the Cardinals by a large score of 17-11.


Offense:
The Mets hit three total homers which were a two-run homer from David Wright, a grand slam from Ike Davis, and a solo homer from Gary Matthews Jr.

Jason Bay went 0-for-2 with a walk and strikeout.

Luis Castillo had an RBI Single. Daniel Murphy had a sacrifice fly. Jason Pridie had a two-run double. Kirk Nieuwenhuis had an RBI single. Shawn Bowman had RBI double. Omir Santos had 2 RBI's.

The Mets went 7-for-17 with runners in scoring position.
Pitching:
R.A. Dickey got hit hard allowing 5 runs in 2.2 innings with seven hits and 2 walks with a strikeout.

Tobi Stoner got the win going 2.1 innings allowing just one hit and one run the run was homerun.

Jack Egbert got a hold in two scoreless innings.

In 2.2 innings of work Sean green allowed 2 earned runs. Due to an Ike Davis error two other runs came in.

Clint Everts got the save.

Mets 4 Braves 2

Lets start with the Mets first spring training game where the Mets beat the Braves 4-2.

Nelson Figueroa started for the Mets allowing two hits and walking two in two innings of work also striking out three.

Elmer Dessens allowed wasn't very effective allowing a run on two hits in just 0.1 innings and was knocked out of the game after being hit in the leg by the second hit.

Bobby Livingston who isn't on the roster notably earned the win in 2.2 innings of work in which he walked two and struck out 4 batters with no runs Livingston earned the win.

Pedro Feliciano and Bobby Parnell earned holds.


Feliciano pitched 1 solid inning with two strike outs.

Parnell pitched 2 innings where he allowed 2 hits, one run, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts.

Ryota Igarashi earned the save.

Mets Middle-infielder Russ Adams hit a home-run.



Ike Davis hit a double and Ruben Tejada drove him in with an RBI single.

Oliver Perez puts 2009 behind him and is Healthy and Optimistic

MLB.com's Aiden Gonzalez said Oliver Perez put his disastarous 2009 season behind him and is optimistic and healthy.



Perez told Gonzalez:

"When I throw [a] bullpen [session], the next day, I just wake up as if I had pitched in a prior game," Perez said in Spanish after his Saturday workout at Tradition Field was shortened because of a threat of rain. "It's just normal soreness. That's what has me pleased -- that I haven't felt any severe pain.

"First and foremost, I'm just happy to be healthy, and I've prepared myself hard for this time of year to be on par with everybody else."

News: Reyes meets with FBI

According to msnbc.com Jose Reyes met with FBI investigators Friday because of his involvement with Canadian doctor Anthony Galea. Msnbc.com also writes: Reyes claims he only got involved with Galea for the blood-spinning procedure that the doctor provides. "They asked me if he injected with that (HGH), and I said no," said the shortstop. "What we did there, basically, he took my blood out, spin it in some machine and put it back in my leg."

Reyes is one of many athletes who were examined Galea the athletes include Carlos Delgado, Tiger Woods, and Chris Simms.

Buzz: Beimel's price high, Mets still Interested

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post says the Mets still like Joe Beimel but the Mets do not like his asking price of $2 million.

I'd like the Mets to sign Beimel it could take pressure off of Pedro Feliciano for being the only lefty in the bullpen and replacing Kelvim Escobar while he's probably going to be on the DL.
